Baltimore
Missouri State University, 2022
Written by Kirsten Greenidge
Baltimore was my second time stage managing a rep show. I was thrilled for the opportunity to stage manage this piece because I'm extremely passionate about theatre that promotes diversity, and Baltimore is exciting among other reasons because one of Kirsten Greenidge's goals as playwright was to write roles for women of color specifically. Since the last rep production I stage managed was a one-woman play, one increased challenge that I faced on this production was the scheduling of fittings into shop availability, working around not only the other show we were in rep with but two other productions beginning rehearsals. Baltimore required me to run both a fight and intimacy call, and taught me a significant amount about supporting performers in self-care and dealing with trauma through working with self-care facilitator and dramaturg, Aleah Vassell (AEA).Â
