About
Hi, I'm Jake Vollmar! I'm a Stage Manager, Photographer, and at times a designer based out of Springfield, MO. I'm a graduate of Missouri State University where I earned a BFA in Theatre & Dance, with an emphasis in Stage and Production Management.
As a stage manager, I have a significant background in contemporary drama, including workshops and world premiere productions. I love contemporary pieces because of the new voices and perspectives they bring to the stage, especially subjects that challenge my own perspective. I am especially passionate about pieces that are themed around identity; some of my personal favorite pieces to have worked on include Skeleton Crew, Fun Home, and Baltimore.
I've worked in both indoor and outdoor theatres and have significant experience with intimate venues and thrust stages. Topics that are of particular interest to me in stage management are stage combat and theatrical intimacy; I am always seeking new learning opportunities that will help me create spaces that are both physically and emotionally safe.
When I'm not working on a show, you can often find me out in the woods, hiking or taking photos; nature photography has been a hobby of mine ever since I could hold a camera. You can find my photography published alongside my mother Amy Wright Vollmar's poetry in her debut anthology, Follow.
In 2019, I was the stage manager for the World Premiere of Sandra Fenichel Asher's play Death Valley: A Love Story.
